Tour of the house

So, now that you all have seen our front living room, I figure I should take you on a tour of the rest of the house. While there is still a lot for us to do to make it more ours, we like how it is at the moment and it will suffice until this spring when we can actually do more to the house (as opposed to now, when it is currently -10 degrees F outside!).

This is our office! We had originally intended for it to be our guest bedroom, but then we realized that we wanted more space for our office stuff and our degus, and that we would spend more time in the office than in our guest bedroom. We abandoned our desks from the apartment and purchased the workstation from IKEA.

Eventually, we would like to get a side desk so that L and I can both have more room! We also are looking for a better way to keep the walls safe from the degus, but for now, cardboard is doing the job.
The guest bedroom will also serve as a craft room for us.
Main floor bathroom:
Stairs leading up to the Master Bedroom:We were unable to fit the box-spring for the mattress up the stairs, so for the meanwhile, L and I just have the mattress on the floor until we find a bed frame with slates to put together in the room.
The little kitchen:
Since our kitchen is so small, we are looking for the right breakfast table to put in this area of the kitchen.
The back living room/dining room:
You can see the back deck through the sliding glass door. The previous owner put up a gazebo, which will be great come summer time!
Our friend gave us this bell that he picked up in China as a wedding gift:

The Basement:
This winter, I am going to be painting the walls grey and the trim white, so I will update this blog updated as I do so!
The basement bathroom:
Laundry room:
Our amazing avocado green dryer:
Lots of shelf space!
Storage room: This room will be used as a storage room until we have the time to renovate it into an office space.
L's "Man Cave":
And this concludes the tour of the L household!

  1. Re: the boxspring, we had the same problem, both for getting our box spring upstairs, and for getting the guest bed spring downstairs, and we sawed it in half and folded it like a book using these directions. Worked like a charm!

I just used a little handsaw.

  2. Wow! We never even thought to do that. We'll have to keep that in mind the next time we get a new mattress.
Our old one was on its way out anyways, so we didn't debate for too long on whether or not to just get rid of the boxspring.
